Olli Rehn (ALDE, FI) and Sampo Terho (ALDE, FI) left the European parliament on 26 April following their election to the Finnish parliament, with ex-MEP Hannu Takkula (ALDE, FI) coming the other way as Rehn's replacement.
Current MP Pirkko Ruohonen-Lerner is next in line to replace Sampo Terho, but a final decision has not been reached.
In committee and delegation news, Carlos Iturgaiz (EPP, ES) has left the delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (D-ACP). Damiano Zoffoli (S&D, IT) has joined the delegation for relations with Iran (D-IR) and Hannu Takkula (ALDE, FI) joined the committee on international trade (INTA) and the delegation for relations with the United States (D-US).
For substitute members, Carlos Iturgaiz (EPP, ES) joined the delegation to the Euronest parliamentary assembly (D-EPA) and Sergio Gutiérrez Prieto (S&D, ES) left the committee on civil liberties, justice and home affairs (LIBE). Urmas Paet (ALDE, EE) joined the committee on foreign affairs (AFET) and the subcommittee on security and defence (SEDE), while Hannu Takkula (ALDE, FI) joined the committee on regional development (REGI), the committee on agriculture and rural development (AGRI) and the delegation to the EU-Turkey joint parliamentary committee (D-TR).
In the political groups, Iveta Grigule (LV) has switched from independent to become a member of Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE). Grigule was initially affiliated to the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group (EFDD).
In national news, Fernando Maura Barandiarán (ALDE, ES) and Enrique Calvet Chambon (ALDE, ES) were expelled from Spain's Union, Progress and Democracy (UPyD) party.
And finally, the official launch of the integrity, transparency, corruption and organised Crime (ITCO) intergroup took place on Wednesday 29 April in Strasbourg. The co-presidents of the intergroup Dennis de Jong (GUE/NGL, NL) and Elly Schlein (S&D, IT) hosted the event.
