1. What was the most inspirational and influential book you have read and why?
Feminist literature has certainly influenced me the most, but something I read over and over again is the short story, ‘Nachts schlafen die Ratten doch’ (‘The rats do sleep at night’) by Wolfgang Borchert. It moves me every time and gives me hope that even in the darkest moments there is light.
2. Is there anything you have personally achieved or done that would surprise people?
Many people are surprised to hear that I used to play football as a teenager. I was never very good, but I played on a great team. We lost all the time, but our team spirit taught me a lot of lessons about life, friendship and happiness.
3. How would you describe your political/leadership style in three words?
Vivid. Inclusive. Committed.
4. What one item would you save from your house or apartment/ house if it was on fire?
My running shoes.
5. Which person you have worked with has most inspired you in your career, and how?
Turkish LGBTI activists and Polish feminists. People that have fought the odds for a better, more equal and more free society. This gives me power and energy to take up this fight in the European Parliament.
