European Parliament:
Vice-Presidents of the Committees, Subcommittees and the Delegations:
Edward CZESAK (ECR, PL) elected as Vice-President of the Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (D-ACP).
National parties:
Rikke KARLSSON (ECR, DK) left the Danish People’s Party (DF) and became independent. Ms KARLSSON said the reason for her departure was that for a long time, she had requested to see the accounts of the two political foundations.
European Parties:
European People’s Party: Joseph DAUL (FR) and MEP Antonio LÓPEZ-ISTÚRIZ WHITE (ES) were re-elected President and Secretary-General of the Party respectively. The ten Vice-Presidents who were elected are:
- Commissioners: Johannes HAHN (AT), Jyrki KATAINEN (FI) and Marianne THYSSEN (BE)

Rapporteurs:
Theresa GRIFFIN (S&D, UK) confirmed as Rapporteur on the New Deal for Energy Consumers Communication.
European Commission:
Cabinets:
Corina Creţu’s team: Gabriel ONACA left his position as Deputy Head of Cabinet.
Directorate Generals:
Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) – Directorate G Rural development programmes II: Neda SKAKELJA is the new head of Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Sweden Unit, replacing Søren KISSMEYER-NIELSEN.
European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) – Directorate B Investigations II: Ernesto BIANCHI is the new Director, replacing Nicholas ILETT.
Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MARE) – Directorate A Policy Development and Co-ordination: Joost PAARDEKOOPER is the new acting Head of Common fisheries policy and aquaculture Unit, replacing Ernesto BIANCHI.
Secretariat-General: Maud SCELO, currently Financial Services and Capital Markets Union press officer in the Spokesperson's Service, will join the UK Task Force as of 1 November.
European External Action Service (EEAS):
Pedro SERRANO appointed Deputy Secretary General for CSDP and Crisis Response as of 1 November 2015, replacing Maciej POPOWSKI.
EU Delegation to the United Nations - New York: Ambassador João VALE DE ALMEIDA took up his role as Head of Delegation on 16 October, replacing Thomas MAYR-HARTING.
European Central Bank (ECB):
Governing and General Councils: Philip LANE appointed as the new Irish Governor and therefore he joins both Councils in replacement to Patrick HONOHAN.
What’s New: Michael DIEMER appointed first Chief Services Officer as of 1 January 2016. The new role of Chief Services Officer will manage all administrative services, IT services, human resources and a newly created finance business area. He will report to the ECB Executive Board.
European Agencies:
Fusion for Energy: Johannes SCHWEMMER appointed as new Director on 21 October 2015 for a five-year term, replacing Pietro BARABASCHI.
Public Affairs:
Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP): David BALDOCK will be stepping down from his role as Director of the Institute in 2016.
SME Europe: MEP Bendt BENDTSEN (EPP, DE) was elected t during the EPP Congress in Madrid as the new President.
News in a nutshell:
Poland: will hold a parliamentary election on Sunday 25 October. The main political parties are the ruling centre-right Civic Platform (EPP), the right-wing Law and Justice (ECR), the centre-right Polish People’s Party (EPP), which is currently the junior partner in the Civic Platform-led coalition government.
Portugal: President Anibal CAVACO SILVA, Social Democratic Party (EPP), asked incumbent Prime Minister Pedro PASSOS COELHO, Social Democratic Party (EPP) to form a government despite his lack of parliamentary majority.
United Kingdom: Prime Minister David CAMERON, Conservative (ECR) promised that he will set out his proposals for EU reform in early November.
Plenary session: MEPs are heading to Strasbourg from Monday 26 to Thursday 29.
